J.P. College of Engineering successfully conducted its annual Sports Meet 2026 on 9th April 2026 at the Mother Virgin Sports Arena. The event was a grand celebration of athletic spirit, enthusiasm, and unity among students and staff. It aimed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and the importance of extracurricular activities in student life. The Sports Meet was organized under the blessings of Rev. Fr. Dr. J.E. Arulraj, Founder and Chairman of DMI & MMI Group of Institutions. The event was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Manathi P. Ganesan, a renowned Indian Kabaddi player and Arjuna Award recipient (1995). His presence added significance to the occasion and inspired students to actively engage in sports. The program began with a formal inauguration ceremony attended by the Principal Dr. M. Rajkumar, Correspondent Rev. Sr. Dr. Larockia Mary, and PRO & Sports Advisor Ln. J. Manoharan Samuel. The ceremony commenced with a prayer, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial torch, symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. A disciplined march-past by students from various departments showcased their coordination and team spirit.
A variety of events were conducted, including track and field competitions such as 100m, 200m, relay races, long jump, high jump, and shot put. Team sports like kabaddi, volleyball, football, and basketball were also organized. Students participated with great enthusiasm, displaying determination, skill, and sportsmanship throughout the competitions. The kabaddi matches were particularly exciting, drawing large attention from the audience. The event witnessed active participation from students across all departments. Faculty members and volunteers played a crucial role in organizing and managing the event efficiently. The entire program was conducted in a well-disciplined and systematic manner, ensuring fairness and smooth execution.
The Sports Meet concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were honored with medals, certificates, and trophies. The Chief Guest congratulated the participants and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in both academics and sports.
